Approving maintenance of accreditation

Towards the end of every ‘maintenance of accreditation’ cycle, NSW teachers write a Maintenance of Accreditation Report and submit it to their Teacher Accreditation Authority (TAA).

How it works

  • Maintenance of accreditation requirements for teachers include continued demonstration of the Standard Descriptors in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers against the level they are being accredited, along with fulfilling the relevant professional development (PD) requirements
  • Towards the end of every ‘maintenance of accreditation’ cycle, the accredited teacher writes their report. The report should be given to the TAA for authorisation 3 months before the end of the maintenance of accreditation period (which differs for each individual)

From 4 January 2016, BOSTES is introducing an online process for verifying and subimtting Maintenance of Accreditation Reports.

For Principals who are also the TAA

  1. Log into your online account. You will need your username and password
  2. Click on the 'TAA' tab and then click the ‘Maintenance of Accreditation Report’ button. The figure in brackets indicates the number of teachers for whom action may be required
  3. The list of teachers who have submitted their Maintenance of Accreditation Report is sorted by Maintenance of Accreditation due date. Select the edit icon next to the teacher whose Maintenance of Accreditation Report you wish to review and make the Maintenance of Accreditation decision about
  4. Review the teacher’s Professional Development Progress Report to verify that all professional development requirements have been met
  5. Review the Maintenance of Accreditation Report to verify the accuracy of the Report. The report can be reviewed on the screen or downloaded as a PDF file by selecting ‘View Maintenance of Accreditation Report’
  6. If required, you may return the Maintenance of Accreditation Report to the teacher for amendment and re-submission. To do this, enter your recommendations and click the ‘Send for Revision’ button at the bottom of the page.
