External Assessor Training

1 Aug 2007

INVITATION TO APPLY FOR TRAINING AS EXTERNAL ASSESSORS FOR THE NSW INSTITUTE OF TEACHERS

The NSW Institute of Teachers is seeking a new round of applications from interested teachers to train as external assessors of documentation relating to accreditation at the level of Professional Competence.

The Institute has a current bank of assessors which will remain active, but the arrival of new scheme teachers’ reports for Professional Competence requires more assessors to be appointed in particular sectors, areas and KLAs.

At this time applications are sought from targeted teachers in the subject areas below.

More assessors are needed in the following sectors, regions and KLAs:

Sector/ School

KLA/ Subject area

Government Primary

Primary

Government Secondary

English

The purpose of external assessors is to ensure that the accreditation process is consistent across NSW. This is an opportunity for experienced teachers to gain expertise in the assessment of teacher quality and contribute towards the enhancement of the teaching profession.

For those assessors who are selected, the Institute will meet the costs of casual teacher relief.

Successful applicants may be involved in the monitoring of accreditation decisions at the level of Professional Competence. This will occur from March 2007 onwards.

Further information and selection criteria are available here. Application forms are available here (pdf version) and here (doc version). Applications need to be returned to the Institute, marked “Attention: Kim Bow”.
