Record your PD course

As a NSW teacher maintaining Proficient, Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher Accreditation, you are responsible for checking your PD has been recorded on your online account.

Evaluate a QTC Registered course

If the course you attended was a QTC Registered course, it should appear on your online account within 30 days of completion. If the course does not appear on your record, contact the endorsed provider directly. Once participation has been recorded by the endorsed provider you will need to evaluate the course.

To do this:

  1. Log into your online account. You will need your username and password.
  2. Click on the 'Teacher' tab and then click on 'Professional Development' button to access your recent course participation.
  3. Once you are in your Professional Development record click on the 'View/add/edit/evaluate PD' button.
  4. Your course participation list will now open showing those courses that require evaluation.
  5. Evaluate courses by selecting the ‘Eval’ button at the right hand side of the course.

QTC Registered courses provided by the Department of Education will be transferred to your public school teachers' accreditation record once completed in MyPL.

Record a Teacher Identified course

For Teacher Identified courses, you are responsible for adding the PD to your record.

  1. Log into your online account and go to your ‘professional development record’. You will need your username and password.
  2. Select ‘Add new’
  3. Select 'Teacher Identified' from the 'Participation type' drop down menu
  4. Please choose a title, an activity type, indicate the amount of hours, and then select the standard descriptors you feel are relevant to that PD
  5. Conclude with a short explanation of how the activity addressed the standard descriptors you nominated.

Your TAA or PD delegate in schools (this is often the principal) is responsible for validating Teacher Identified PD. Early childhood teachers should continue to log their Teacher Identified PD. Further advice about validation will be provided in early 2017.

Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher Identified PD - Professional Commitment

Teachers accredited at the Highly Accomplished Teacher or Lead Teacher levels must complete an additional requirement under Teacher Identified PD called Professional Commitment activities. These activities demonstrate the accredited teacher’s ongoing capacity to support the PD and practice of colleagues in an early childhood education and care service or school and the wider education community. Activities could include mentoring/coaching, leading PD, developing projects and action research, and writing for publications.

How are professional commitment activities recorded?

  1. Log into your online account and go to your ‘professional development record’. You will need your username and password.
  2. Select 'Add new'
  3. Select ‘Professional Commitment’ from the ‘Participation type' drop down menu
  4. Choose a title, an activity type, indicate the amount of hours, and then select the standard descriptors you feel are relevant to your PD
  5. Provide a short explanation of how the activity addressed the Standard Descriptors you nominated.

Your TAA or PD delegate in schools (this is often the principal) is responsible for validating Teacher Identified PD. Early childhood teachers in centres should continue to log their activities. Further advice about validation will be provided in early 2017.
