The Professional Teachers Council
6 May 2016
The Professional Teachers Council (PTC) has recently launched a professional learning platform, PTCplus, to provide individualised teacher-created, teacher-presented professional learning directly related to individual schools.
Schools register through the PTC and create a professional learning hub and community for their staff.
The PTC also publishes an extensive calendar of professional learning events from member associations which is a useful resource for teachers and schools looking for professional development opportunities.
As a BOSTES endorsed provider of QTC Registered professional development, the PTC approves the courses of its member associations at the Proficient, Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher levels. Its members are currently providing QTC Registered professional development to teachers across the state.
The PTC has 47 NSW professional teaching associations as members, from early childhood to tertiary and in all key learning areas, providing leadership and support to promote excellence in the profession and student learning.
It has recently created the Professional Casual Teachers’ Association NSW to enable casual teachers to share experiences, learn from each other and establish a professional connection. Contact them for more information.
Being a member of a professional teacher association benefits teachers by providing the opportunity to:
- engage in curriculum matters
- network with other teachers in a field of interest
- engage personally with various roles of responsibility within a quality volunteer professional group
- take part in contemporary professional learning experiences.
