Teachers who are returning to the profession after an absence from teaching of five or more years or who are overseas trained and experienced and commencing teaching in NSW are required to complete at least 10 hours of Refresher Courses in their first year of provisional accreditation.
Refresher Courses are professional development that is endorsed by the Quality Teaching Council (QTC) as it will orient or re-orient this group of teachers to the current NSW schooling context. Refresher Course professional development supports these teachers to update and refresh their professional knowledge and practice and their understanding of key NSW educational priorities.
Early childhood teachers can select QTC Registered courses that will support their orientation or re-orientation to teach in NSW.
