National literacy and numeracy tests for NSW teacher education students
21 Jul 2015
BOSTES is working with the Australian Department of Education and Training to finalise the availability of the national literacy and numeracy tests for NSW teacher education students in 2016.
In the meantime, an opportunity currently exists for 5000 teacher education students to take part in a trial of the national literacy and numeracy tests in August and September 2015.
BOSTES encourages NSW teacher education students due to start their final professional experience placement in 2016 to, where possible, register for and take the 2015 national trial test to meet the NSW Great Teaching, Inspired Learning (GTIL) requirement.
The community can be assured that BOSTES has been working closely with Australian Department of Education and Training, and NSW universities on the development of the national test to ensure it sets a high academic standard for future teachers.
As part of the GTIL reforms, NSW teacher education students are required to pass literacy and numeracy tests before they start their final professional experience placement from 2016.
